CGE's Projects

CGE proposes to undertake activities on 2 proposed UCG sites, EPC 1508 at Leyburn and EPC 1507 at Callide. These sites have been selected for their potential coal, proximity to services and infrastructure as well as potential off take partners at nearby power stations. As part of our initial activities CGE proposes to complete a site analysis, put in place an Environmental Management Plan and Cultural Heritage Management Plan along with obtaining all necessary regulatory approvals for the construction of a UCG pilot plant. CGE proposes to undertake and complete the design and pre-engineering works for the UCG Pilot Plant, which is the first step to a commercial plant. The final design will then be put out to tender for construction and commissioning of a 1Pj per annum air based UCG pilot plant.

The pilot plant is not a demonstration plant, it is the first stage of a proposed 4 to 5Pj commercial plant. During the finalisation and conclusion of the design, engineering, environmental and heritage impact study CGE will begin to negotiate commercial off-take agreements for the Syngas produced. Potential buyers of the Syngas include nearby power stations, chemical manufacturers and/or other wholesale gas suppliers.

The Company intends on undertaking further exploration works on the other CGE tenements. These tenements may or may not be suitable for UCG. Further commercial projects will be proposed and eventually undertaken on the other tenements we access that are suitable for UCG. The commercial projects may include Gas to Liquids (GTL), Power Stations, Synthetic Natural Gas plants and/or chemical plants. It is more than likely these activities would be undertaken with joint venture partners.
